Janet Dawson writes highly acclaimed crime novels about Oakland, California private eye Jeri Howard. She also writes a historical mystery series featuring Zephyrette Jill McLeod, who sleuths aboard the 1950s-era train known as the California Zephyr. \n\nDawson's novels include Kindred Crimes, which won the Private Eye Writers of America Best First Private Eye Novel Contest and was nominated for the Anthony and Shamus awards.
